Electric
Mini has gone slightly against the grain regarding electric cars, maintaining the standard Mini hatchback shape. It delivers the same feel-good joy the car is famous for, with all the excitement and efficiency of being fully electric; put your foot down and its instant Torque from 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds.
Three trim levels are available to personalise, Level 2, Level 3 and Resolute, with increasing specifications from model to model.
The lithium-ion battery used across the range is 32.6 kWh; it has an electric range of between 140 to 145 miles on a full charge and will recharge on a DC rapid charger (50KW) in 36 minutes. More realistically, using a home wall box at 7.4 kW will take about 3 hours and 12 minutes
Other Variations
Since its conception, the mini brand has always had alternative versions of the standard three-door hatchback; in October 1961, there was the Morris Mini Traveller and the Austin Mini Countryman, both hard a non-structural ash-wood trim on the rear of the body in the style of a pre-war Shooting Brake.
In 1963, an Austin Minivan, Pickup, and a utility vehicle called the Mini Moke were available from 1964 onwards; built with a twin-engine and 4 x 4; it was intended for the British Army but lacked enough ground clearance for military use. If you travel around the world’s most famous beach locations, there is a good chance you'll come across a Mini Moke.
The current range of cars available are 5-door or 3-door hatchbacks, available as a Cooper or a Cooper S; both have trim levels of Classic, Exclusive, and Resolute. The engine choice is a petrol 1.5-litre 3-cylinder or a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 178 bhp.
If you like the wind in your hair, then there's a convertible with a version of the hatchback that gives you the Cooper and Cooper S the same 3 trim levels, but there's also the option of the 231 BHP John Cooper Works version.
The Mini Clubman is a throwback to the Mini Traveller with a lot more style and no wood! However, it still has the barn doors at the back. This gives you a great Mini driving experience with plenty of space for family and pets.
Trim levels are classic and exclusive, with a high-level specification engine choice 136 BHP 1.5litre 3-cylinder petrol engine or the 178 BHP Cooper S, or strap everyone in with the 306 BHP John Cooper Works version.
The Mini Countryman practicality and space are available in this family SUV; it’s currently the only vehicle in the range that offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The three-cylinder petrol engine and the e-motor give you a combined BHP of 125 and an EV range of 31 miles, ideal when coming into low-emission zones.
The conventional petrol engines are Cooper and Cooper S and 306 BHP John Cooper Works. Three trim levels are Classic, Exclusive, and Untamed. Which “embraces the elements giving you highland green upholstery and unique nature-inspired patterns echoed throughout!”
